Interview of Dr. Mitchell Corwin
1. Tell us how you first got started in Alternative Medicine and what is your philosophy.

My introduction to alternative medicine began with my formal education as a chiropractor in 1972 and discovering applied kinesiology.  Although I have an understating of chiropractic spinal biomechanics, my fascination has always been in trying to understand the why and how one manifest illness.  Applied kinesiology offered me the investigation tools and with my background in mechanical engineering I'm ready and willing to assist the nervous system in restoring optimal health.  The personal challenge for me, is discovering how to recruit and assist the immune and tissue repair systems of the body.
I believe it is imperative for an alternative medicine practitioner to stay current with modern medical technology as well as advances in energetic healing methods and as well as to establish a working repore  with the many local talented practitioners in our community.

2.  What is your educational background.
My educational background is 26 years of clinical practice with an ongoing search for new therapies from practitioners and research scientist from around the world. My formal education began in 1972 attending National College  of Chiropractic and graduating from New York College of Chiropractic 1979.   My undergraduate education was at Rutgers College in New Jersey.
In addition to the California continuing education requirements,  I attend many lectures and presentations by my peers.   I also  teach Neural Organization Work to practitioners in the United States and Europe.

3.  Tell us about the modalities you employ and how your clients benefit from them.
The therapies I employ are based in applied kinesiology and more specifically Neural Organization Work.  Although the hands-on work utilizes standard applied kinesiology receptor-based therapy involving skin surface reflexes and energetic techniques, the primary emphasis is restoring the body and mind to optimal function.   This restoration is accomplished by addressing the primary survival systems of Fight/Flight, Feeding/Immune and Reproductive/Hormonal systems. Once the foundations of the survival systems are stabilized, one can re-build the immune and central nervous system to address microorganism infection, toxicity problems and to begin tissue repair.

4.  What do you consider to be a successful treatment outcome?
My most rewarding success is seeing my patient's return of vitality allowing them to move forward in life and accomplishing that service in a swift and cost effective manner.   My work with children and adults with learning disabilities is always rewarding.  If I don’t hear my patients say, “you’ve made me feel younger and given me my life back again” I’m not satisfied.  I believe we are designed to live a long and healthy fulfilling life.

5.  How do you get new patients in your practice?
My patients hear about me primarily through word of mouth and by direct referral from fellow practitioners.  When another practitioner refers me their patient,  I enjoy the challenge in trying to solve the mystery of why their condition is slow to respond.   A team effort is often the answer in difficult cases.
I know I've done a good job when my patient's refer in their family friends even before I've they have completed their active care.

6.  Would you like to share anything else?
Yes, I would like to share in my opinion what are the 2 most common conditions I see and why.
It is my opinion the number one health challenge to the general public is heavy metal (mercury) toxicity from old/leaking amalgam dental fillings.  This condition is running ramped in our society and to a slightly lesser degree in Europe.  The toxicity released from amalgam fillings directly effect our nerves both peripherally and centrally.  By this I mean,  any pain condition will be exaggerated,  brain fog develops, the heart and digestive systems are weakened and our immune system is compromised.   There is also growing evidence that mercury toxicity is the root cause of Alzheimer disease.

The number two problem is the many herpetic viral infections devastating our bodies and central nervous system.  The most common conditions viral conditions we know of today are herpes simplex I & II, blood sugar handling problems, obesity and digestive problems.   I believe the increase of chronic neurological conditions and the lingering of neuropathies are also related to this classification of viruses.
My philosophy is to re-educate and restore vitality to the immune system and teach it go after and fight the battles it has last in the past.    This is the answer to health and maintaining the vitality of youth.
